Mulled Apple Cider with Red Wine

If you love hot apple cider, you’ll love this mulled apple cider with red wine even more! It’s made with sweet apple cider, flavorful red wine, crisp apples, and cozy autumn spices.

Hot apple cider is great on its own, but mix in some red wine along with some apple slices and cinnamon sticks, and you’ve got one of the coziest cocktails to ever exist. It’s my trusty recipe for a great addition to any fall or winter evening, plus preparing it makes your house smell INCREDIBLE. You can dress it up to serve in a mason jar or cocktail glass with garnishes, or simply pour some in a mug and enjoy casually. And when I say it makes your house smell fantastic, I mean cozy-up-on-the-couch-and-never-want-to-leave fantastic!

Ingredients & Equipment

You’ll need the following ingredients and equipment to make this mulled apple cider with red wine:

  • Apple cider
  • Sweet red wine
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Apples
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Ground nutmeg
  • Ground allspice
  • Cloves or star anise (optional)

Customize This Recipe!

There are a few different ways you can customize this recipe:

  • Use your favorite wine. Any red wine will taste great in this recipe, so use your absolute favorite!
  • Add citrus. For a bit of bright flavor, add some orange slices to this recipe.

Mulled Apple Cider with Red Wine

Ingredients

  • 3 cups apple cider
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 apple sliced
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp ground allspice

Instructions

  • Stir together the cider and wine in a large pot over the stove on low-medium heat.
  • Add in cinnamon sticks and apple slices and stir.
  • Sprinkle in some cinnamon, nutmeg, and/or allspice to your liking.
  • Keep over heat for about 10-15 minutes and then serve.

Notes

  • You can keep the cider mixture simmering on low heat throughout the day to keep your house smelling like fall! (I like to get myself a glass every now and then of course).
