Seven Great Spots to Eat and Drink in Notting Hill, London
Visiting London soon and need tips on where to eat and drink in Notting Hill? Look no further!
Notting Hill has a specific charm that allows you to still find pockets of peace among its bustling streets. Despite the ever-growing tourist crowds outside, you’ll find plenty of cozy restaurants to dine tucked away from the chaos, and just as many spots to grab a quick takeaway bite as fuel for braving the weekend crowds, market-goers, and photo-takers. Notting Hill is touristy for a reason, and the best way to explore the neighborhood (in my opinion) is by eating your way through it — here are seven great spots to eat and drink in Notting Hill, London.
1. Chai Guys Bakehouse
Starting off with breakfast options, Chai Guys is a great spot right on Portobello Road for coffee and pastries! I personally loved their aubergine pain suisse! It was crisp and flaky and rich with the perfect amount of parmesan grated on top! If you like savory pastries, I absolutely recommend trying this one, though they have a great selection of sweet options, too.
What to Order: Aubergine pain suisse

2. Buns From Home
Another good option for pastries is Buns From Home just across the corner from Chai Guys — they specialize in croissant buns and often have some really unique flavors! They had a limited selection when I visited, but I tried their matcha blueberry bun and while it was smaller than a number of their typical options, the flavor still packed a punch! I’d love to come back and try some of their other sweet and savory buns.
What to Order: Matcha blueberry bun

3. Sova
If you’re looking for a trendy spot for drinks and small plates, Sova is the perfect place to go. It’s cool and cozy, with very friendly staff and a small but mighty menu with tons of variety. I opted for some white wine alongside their marinated olives and beetroot croquettes, and it was a delightful pairing! It’s an equally great spot for sharing a combination of small and large plates with a group, or just for drinks and appetizers before heading to another restaurant for dinner! Whatever your dining vibe happens to be, Sova will fit in perfectly.
What to Order: Marinated olives, beetroot croquettes

4. Ria’s
I’ll be the first to say that Ria’s is absolutely doing Detroit-style pizza justice in Notting Hill! Their space is casual and comfortable, trendy without being overhyped, and the food is simply stunning all around. The House Pie is a well-deserved classic, topped with both ricotta and basil & lemon drizzles, and their fried potatoes with whipped garlic feta were genuinely some of the best I’ve ever had. From their range of personal slices to their table appetizers and awesome wine list, this spot claiming to serve “just really good pizza and really good wine” is definitely doing just that.
What to Order: House slice, fried potatoes, Orange De Ria’s wine

5. Dishoom Permit Room
Dishoom sometimes gets labeled as overhyped, but they’re all over social media 24/7 for good reason: they make damn good food. I stopped in for a solo lunch and was kind of in awe at how great the food was, considering how often I see that aforementioned “overhyped” label on TikTok. I loved everything I ate and would highly recommend! The aloo tikki chole was absolutely delicious — some of the best potatoes I’ve ever had — and the orange wine margarita was super unique and refreshing. Can’t go wrong with their samosas and cheesy naan bites, either!
What to Order: Aloo tikki chole, lamb samosas, chilli cheesy garlic naan bites, orange wine margarita

6. Dove
Dove is a Notting Hill institution, and if you’re even remotely in food spaces on social media, you’ve seen their notorious (and elusive) burger. Dry-aged for 50 days, smothered in honey-infused gorgonzola, and only 10 served per service, this burger has prominently been dubbed the best burger in London. It’s known for being incredibly delicious and equally hard to get your hands on.
I’ll admit I was skeptical looking at the very, very pink center, to the point where I almost didn’t order it, but I’m so glad I did! It’s one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten, and it’s even better paired with their duck fat fries. The staff were incredibly kind, accommodating with allergies, and even gave me some free birthday sorbet (with a little candle — too cute). I absolutely loved my experience here all around, so I 100% recommend, even if you aren’t able to nab a burger.
What to Order: Dove burger (not on menu), duck fat fries

7. The Pelican
My family and I stopped by The Pelican for drinks on a lovely summer afternoon, and while it was a quick visit, it was one of my favorites! Their Negronis are some of the best I’ve had, their staff is lovely, and the outdoor ambiance was relaxed, casual, and perfect for a midday tipple. Their food menu looks absolutely delicious, so I’ll be back someday for dinner, too!
What to Order: Negroni, martini, margarita

On My List for Next Time:
Notting Hill is always on my list of places to return to, and I have a very large running list of spots I still need to try! Here are some of my most-anticipated bakeries and restaurants at the top of my list for next time:
Cheeky Scone: I’m dying to try their scones — so many fun flavors!
Layla Bakery: A Notting Hill icon! Need to try their croissants.
Farm Girl: I had plans to get brunch here on my last visit but slept in a bit too much… will try them out next time!
Empire Empire: This is one of the very first spots I’m trying next time I’m in Notting Hill. Their entire menu looks to die for!
Canteen: I’m always down for pasta, and this spot looks incredible (though maybe a bit pricey).
The Cow: I need to find more good pubs during my travels, and this looks like a great one!
