After spending another month in this lovely city, I’m sharing 11 more delicious spots to eat in Montreal!

Montreal is easily one of my favorite cities to eat in the world — with no shortage of great restaurants filled with all different types of cuisine, this city really is a foodie’s dream. From casual bars to trendy brunches, cash-only takeout pasta, delicious ice cream by the park, and all the different kinds of poutine you could imagine, Montreal genuinely has something for everyone, no matter what you’re in the mood for. 1. Mano Cornuto

This is hands down my favorite restaurant in Montreal so far, so if you make it over to the Griffintown area, definitely stop in for a bite or a drink! It’s got a very cozy, old-school bar vibe, and I don’t usually like sitting at the bar (I’m a table girl for sure), but it was perfect for grabbing a quick bite solo. Their campanelle alla bolognese was pretty average, but their burrata was genuinely one of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten. It’s perfectly creamy, perfectly seasoned (which for whatever reason is hard for restaurants to do?), and the focaccia is light and fluffy and filling. The pistachio pesto is rich, crunchy, and earthy in all the best ways, and the whole dish is super well-rounded in flavor and texture. Big recommend from me!

2. Rosie’s Burgers

If you’re craving a delicious neighborhood burger, this is absolutely the place to go! Smashburgers, shakes, perfectly seasoned crinkle cut fries… the food and flavors are classic and nostalgic and I highly, highly recommend. They do chicken sandwiches and banana pudding as well, which I didn’t get to try but are both on my list for the next time I’m in the city! The party burger was a no-brainer for me, and it’s topped with two smashed patties, American cheese, grilled onions, pickles, and their Rosie sauce which is a pretty standard mayo-based burger sauce situation. Delicious, but the fries are what stole the show! Not enough burger spots do crinkle cut fries at all, let alone so well — seasoned and fried to perfection, with a crisp outside and super fluffy inside. No notes, especially paired with a classic vanilla shake. This easily became one of my favorite spots to eat in Montreal!

3. India Rosa

I loveee an elevated brunch, and India Rosa is doing it damn well! If you like breakfast and you like Indian food, you’ll love it here. Their butter chicken eggs Benedict is actually out of this world — it’s served on the fluffiest brioche I’ve ever eaten, the chicken is juicy, the eggs are rich and runny, and the curry is just stunning. Classic flavors are fused together into one delicious, unique dish, and I couldn’t recommend it more! The service was lovely as well, and while it’s a popular spot and it got busy pretty quickly, I didn’t feel overwhelmed by the crowd. They have a location in the Plateau as well as Griffintown, so be sure to stop by whenever you’re in Montreal next!

4. Dandy

Dandy is a very trendy restaurant in Old Montreal, and I’m here to say it’s absolutely worth the hype. Their ricotta pancakes are simple yet so delicious, made extra fluffy and moist by using ricotta in the batter and topped with an incredible lemon cream and maple brown butter sauce. None of the flavors overpower each other in the slightest, and it makes for a classic dish with a lovely twist! The interior space is really cool, too, with fun colors and a laid back vibe. They don’t take reservations, so get there early if you’re going on a weekend — or use the wait time as an excuse to wander around Old Montreal before your table is ready!

5. Antipode

I had wanted to go to Antipode since my first visit to Montreal in 2023, so I’m super glad I tried it out on my latest trip! It’s a cute spot in the Plateau (they also have a location on Boul. Saint-Laurent) with a cozy interior and friendly staff, and their menu is filled with delicious brunch dishes, fun cocktails, and tons of flavorful lattes. I opted for the pistachio latte which was the perfect balance of sweet, nutty, and earthy, and their brown butter eggs with sausage which was incredibly flavorful and filling! The dish had sausage, falafel, and poached eggs on a bed of mint yogurt and topped with caramelized onion and garlic. The pita was nice and toasty, the sausage was super juicy, and the onions were incredibly rich and gave the dish a lot of depth of flavor! Overall a really yummy brunch option that you should try for sure.

6. La Banquise

One of Montreal’s most mentioned spots when it comes to the “best poutine in the city” debate, La Banquise is a solid spot to grab this classic dish! Their menu is anything but classic, though — they have over 30 different poutines to try, from tamer toppings like just bacon or smoked meat, to crazier concoctions like onion rings and ground beef or pickles and coleslaw. I personally tried their pulled pork, bacon, and apples option, and it was pretty tasty! This dish had a lot going on, and while the fries can get a bit soggy quickly since the portion is packed so tightly, the flavors were definitely yummy and unique. This place often gets a line out the door for both takeout and dining in, so maybe choose a nice day to visit in case you find yourself waiting in line.

What to Order: La Royale (poutine with pulled pork, bacon, and apples)

7. Ma Poule Mouillée

I also see this spot mentioned just as much in the “best Montreal poutine” debate, often pitted directly against La Banquise, which is fitting since they’re located right across the street from each other in the Plateau! I personally preferred Ma Poule Mouillée slightly more than La Banquise — their poutine, of which they only have one option, was topped with seemingly endless chorizo and Portuguese chicken, and the flavors were divine. The chorizo had a nice spice to it, and the chicken was cooked to perfection with a bit of crisp skin still left on. I think because they only have one poutine option, they’ve had ample time to perfect it, and I respect that. Schwartz’s is still my #1 spot in the city for poutine, but I’d definitely suggest trying this one out as well!

8. Flers Cafe

Flers is a super cute little cafe right on Mont-Royal Ave, and it became a go-to remote work spot for me during my latest month in Montreal! Their staff is very friendly and the hot chocolate was good enough to get in the summer. The pain au chocolat was also delicious — perfectly flaky-but-not-too-flaky with gooey chocolate and lots of buttery flavor. If you’re looking for cute spots to eat in Montreal, I highly recommend popping in here to try some pastries, grab a coffee, and relax on the patio for a bit on a nice day!

9. Tommy Cafe

Tommy is a super popular cafe chain in Montreal (and other Canadian cities), so I stopped into their Plateau location to get a quick bit of work done one morning. I grabbed a cappuccino and would have gotten food if I’d stayed longer, but their brunch menu looked really good so I’d definitely go back to try! It seemed like their Old Montreal location was the busiest and the Plateau location was pretty empty whenever I’d walk by, at least in the mornings. They share space with a pizzeria though, so I’m sure it gets busier as the day goes on. Regardless, the interior is really spacious and gets great light in the morning, especially with the big open windows, and the staff is very nice, so I’d recommend!

10. St-Viateur Bagel

A Montreal classic for good reason! I opted for a rosemary and sea salt bagel and it was absolutely delicious — flavorful but not overbearing, which is exactly what I want in a bagel. If you’re only familiar with New York-style bagels, Montreal does them a bit differently: prepare for a bagel that’s slightly smaller, denser, and sweeter, especially from being boiled in honey-infused water! St-Viateur has multiple locations around Montreal, and they all get busy extremely quickly — their Mont-Royal store pretty much always has a line out the door, so I’d suggest getting their early unless you don’t mind a wait!
