Six Great Cafes in Vancouver for Remote Working
One of my favorite parts of traveling abroad is finding cute coffee shops & cafes to work from, so when I recently started traveling again and spent a month in British Columbia, I made sure to compile a list of my favorite Vancouver cafes for remote working.
Remote work is only getting more and more popular these days, and as someone who works completely remotely while traveling full-time, I’m no stranger to finding WFH-friendly spots wherever I am in the world! When you work from home, it’s easy to get too comfortable tucked away in your apartment and hiding from the outside world, so I’m a firm believer that getting out of the house and creating a change of scenery during your work days is super important — and can actually make you more productive. There’s just something about the wafting scents of pastries and the comfortable background noise of a cafe that motivates me to get my work done, and Vancouver has no shortage of great options.
If you live in Vancouver or are taking a trip here, keep these spots in mind the next time you’re looking to switch up your WFH routine!

1. Nemesis Coffee
I’d seen Nemesis allll over social media ahead of my trip to Vancouver, so I knew it was going on my list before I even went there myself. Spoiler alert: it’s worth the hype. I visited their Gastown location and they had incredible breakfast sandwiches, a good coffee menu, and ample seating for remote workers (though it does get super busy, especially on weekends, so I suggest arriving earlier in the day!).

2. Analog Coffee
This cute spot in Yaletown had delicious hot chocolate and a really cozy atmosphere, though not as much seating as I was expecting. For laptop users, seating will be most comfortable along the walls at either end of the cafe — I’d suggest saving the clusters of chairs/couches for groups of people not working. Not sure if the wifi reaches their outdoor seating, but they had a good amount of seats outside as well! I spent a couple hours here enjoying the steady stream of traffic and background noise that helped me zone out and actually be more productive than usual.

3. Saunter Coffee
I really loved Saunter in the Gastown area of Vancouver! It’s small, but also bright, airy, and very laptop-friendly. I didn’t venture in the back, but I believe they have a little hidden courtyard to sit in as well. Almost everyone in Saunter was on their laptops on the day that I came here, so clearly it’s a popular spot for students and WFH patrons, and it helps that they have delicious matcha and yummy pastries to help fuel your work day.

4. Pallet Coffee Roasters
Pallet is another spot downtown that has a great menu (with a great hot chocolate) and a good amount of seating inside with a few tables outside, too. The staff were super friendly and the hot cocoa art was probably the cutest I got in Vancouver! Like most spots downtown it got busy really quickly, but once you’ve claimed a table, the commotion becomes the perfect level of background noise while you work.

5. Slo Coffee
If aesthetics are as important to you as food/coffee/workability when looking for a coffee shop to work from, check out Slo Coffee on Granville Street. Gorgeous interior, delicious food, and a good amount of seating (if you get there early enough). I’ve heard that this cafe limits their laptop time to 1-2 hours, but I didn’t see any specific signage saying so and I forgot to ask — but if they do, it’s still a great spot to get a quick bit of work done while you eat a warm scone. Their cheddar & chive is delicious!

6. Rocanini Coffee Roasters
Rocanini was the first cafe I worked from in Vancouver, so it has a special place in my heart! It’s a bit small, and the seating is more geared towards groups so there are a mix of larger, communal tables and tables for two, but if you can find a quiet pocket in the day to grab a spot, it’s a cozy place to work for a bit. Grab a unique pastry and a fun drink to fuel your WFH session.

Honorable Mentions
There are a few spots I visited in Vancouver that I didn’t work from personally, but looked like they would be great spots for remote work, so I want to mention them here as some other options!
Angus T Bakery & Cafe: Amazing pastries first and foremost, but there were a few people working along their wall of tables and a wifi password was present at the counter. It seemed like a chill spot to get a couple hours of work in while enjoying a light breakfast!
Kafka’s Coffee Roasting: Very funky spot in Yaletown that I got a drink from while killing time before check-in at my Airbnb — I never got around to going back for a work day, but they have decent seating and a good menu!
Wren Cafe: People were working here when I stopped in to grab some dessert one afternoon, and they have a decent sized menu for both breakfast and lunch, plus their dessert case.
Breka Bakery & Cafe: It’s open 24/7 with a huge range in their all-day menu, and the Davie St. location had a good amount of seating when I popped in. Sources say it’s a popular spot for remote work and I believe them!
