ALBUM: Speak Now (Taylor's Version)
For the most part, I’ve always found Speak Now to be a very whimsical album. It’s filled with a range of emotions put into songs with titles that are very on the nose: “Sparks Fly” is peppy and upbeat, “Haunted” is powerful and passionate, and “Enchanted” sounds fit for a fairy tale. The songs are getting more mature and deal with more intense love and loss, but still have a childlike wonder to them–I knew that’s what I wanted to capture in this particular cocktail. Purple was a given, and I wanted a light, cool flavor that’s refreshing to drink and just as fun to look at. The result is this charming, bright purple ube lavender cocktail (paired with the perfect thrifted glass). It’s sweet and simple and looks fit for a princess, and definitely embraces the enchantment of this album. While there are more somber songs and themes on Speak Now, the overall message of the album sticks out like bright purple tulle: to live and love is magical, and we should all act like it.
