Eggnog French Toast

Enjoy this festive eggnog French toast on a cozy Christmas morning! Thick slices of bread bathed in eggnog and cinnamon sugar are cooked to perfection and topped with sliced bananas, maple syrup, and homemade whipped cream.

This eggnog French toast is the coziest Christmas morning brunch option! It’s soft, it’s sweet, it’s syrupy, and it’ll get you in the festive holiday spirit before (or after) you open up your gifts under the tree. A thicker bread like brioche is ideal since it’s sturdy and more filling, but regular sliced bread will work perfectly, too. Top with your favorite fruits, sweet maple syrup, and a dollop of homemade whipped cream!

Ingredients & Equipment

You’ll need the following ingredients and equipment to make this eggnog French toast:

  • Thick bread (brioche)
  • Eggs
  • Eggnog
  • Vanilla extract
  • Light brown sugar
  • Spiced rum
  • Heavy whipping cream
  • Powdered sugar

Customize This Recipe!

There are a few different ways you can customize this recipe:

  • Add your favorite fruit. I used bananas to top the French toast, but you can use literally any berry, sauce, jam, etc. that you want. The eggnog is subtle enough to go with most flavors, so go crazy, friends.
  • Leave out the rum. It adds some extra spice and warmth, but it’s not necessary for the recipe. If you’d prefer French toast with no rum, go for it!

Kitchen Tips:

  • Utilize mise en place! Make sure you have all of your ingredients prepped and ready before you begin making this recipe – it will help save you time and keep you organized.
  • Use a thick bread. My personal favorite is a thickly sliced brioche – it’s fluffy and soft, but sturdy and filling when made into this yummy French toast!
