Celebrate Christmas morning with the coziest eggnog cinnamon rolls! Filled with warm holiday spices and topped with creamy eggnog frosting, these pillowy soft cinnamon rolls will have you even more excited than the gifts under your tree!
Okay, who else always starts their Christmas morning off with cinnamon rolls?? My family usually makes the kind that comes in a can (and I still crave that kind pretty often, honestly) - but if you’re looking for a show-stopping, homemade holiday breakfast dish, look no further. Today is day 3 of our “Five Days of Christmas Recipes” countdown, and we’re making Christmas Morning Eggnog Cinnamon Rolls! The kicker here is the eggnog - that’s what makes these cinnamon rolls so cozy and festive. Some people like orange in their cinnamon rolls, but I think those people are crazy, and my go-to’s for comforting holiday flavors are always eggnog and winter spices like cinnamon and nutmeg - so obviously, those are the stars of this cinnamon roll show.

Christmas Morning Eggnog Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients
For the dough:
- 4 cups flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- ¾ cup eggnog warmed
- 3 eggs
- 1½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup butter soft
For the filling:
- ⅔ cup brown sugar
- 1½ tablespoon ground cinnamon
- ½ cup butter soft or melted
For the icing:
- 1½ cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ cup eggnog
Instructions
For the dough:
- Put your dry ingredients into the bowl of a standard mixer with a dough hook attached.
- Warm up your eggnog and pour in the yeast, letting it sit for about 7 minutes or until the top is foaming.
- When your yeast has activated, pour the eggnog into the bowl and start mixing.
- Add in the eggs, vanilla and butter and mix for about 5 minutes, until the dough has come together and is pulling away from the edges of the bowl cleanly.
- Leave the dough in the bowl and cover with a towel or plastic wrap, letting the dough rest for about an hour. it should be about twice as big after proofing.
For the filling:
- After your dough is done proofing, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle.
- Spread your butter over the entirety of the dough, then cover with brown sugar and cinnamon and spread into the dough.
- Roll up the dough tightly to get a good amount of swirls, then cut into 12 individual rolls.
- Place the rolls face-up in a 9x13 baking dish - you can line the dish with parchment or prepare with cooking spray/butter.
- Let the rolls rest for another 30 minutes or so, or cover them with plastic wrap and put them in the fridge overnight. if you keep them overnight, let them rest at room temp the next day before you bake them.
- Bake the rolls for 30 minutes, or until they've fluffed up and look golden.
For the icing:
- With a whisk, mix together the powdered sugar, vanilla, and eggnog until fully combined and smooth. If you want your icing thinner, add more eggnog one tablespoon at a time.
- Spread icing over the rolls once they have slightly cooled.
